About architecture: Neo-Renaissance

Updated: Aug 19, 2020

Also known as Renaissance Revival architecture this style became popular in the mid of the 19th century, is perhaps the only style of architecture to have existed in so many forms, yet still common to so many countries.

These style buildings you can find in New York City, where this style was a way for wealthy citizens to emulate the style of aristocratic Europeans. Fifth Avenue at one point was filled almost entirely with Neo-Renaissance mansions.

One of the Neo-Renaissance style examples is the Warren Building, built-in 1891, located in the Ladies’ Mile Historic District. It was designed by McKim, Mead & White - an American architectural firm that was recognized as leaders in the development of modern architecture worldwide.

This beautiful Warren Building drawing is available in my online store.
